It feels so good to be back in South Jamaica, Queens! When we left the Thomas family — things were bleak. Lou-Lou was in the head space of being done with his sister, Raq, but not before those chicken came to roost at the studio — leaving Zisa dead. Marvin was hit in the projects but thankfully his boy on the wheelchair saved his life — or did he? Unique losses his only soldier Worrell in New Jersey. Raquel was almost out of her but Unique made it just in time to save her — Jukebox mom was not so lucky. Season three picks up right after the ambush, let’s break it on down!

Marvin lives ya’ll! Talk about a sigh of relief because that was the cliffhanger we were all ready to get answers to. Even with a bullet wound, Marvin is determined to complete his transport task with the help of his guardian angel in a wheelchair.

Raq is in the hospital and her mind just never stops. One thing I respect about her character is that she is a thinker and tries to remain several steps ahead of everyone else. She calls Lou-Lou who is at the studio, the fix is working — pin everything on Crown Camacho. Malcolm is floating around the hospital making sure he can back her story to his fellow officers.

Unique arrives home after saving the day and walks in on a surprise — his brother Ronnie is home. Ronnie is stoic yet dark and very focused on his honey nut Cheerios. He notices a cut on Unique’s hand that Unique likely did not realize was there.

Back at the hospital Burke runs in and tries to air Malcolm in front of everyone, however her captain silences her by suspending her from the force. He brings up a story about her childhood and her mother, who was a drunk. Burke assures him none of this has to do with her upbringing and says her mother did the best that she could — being married to her father was no walk in the park.

Looks like Sal is in some trouble with Stefano, we’ll see how this goes.

Marvin, Jukebox, Kanan and Raq arrive at Raq’s new house. Things get heated when Raq decides she no longer wants to be in the streets. Kanan feels it is too late for her to make amends and even tries to out to Marvin who his real father is. Speaking of Marvin, the way he handled Jukebox’s feelings around her mother’s death was so beautiful and mature. Back to Kanan, that young man is done with his mom at this point, even after Jukebox tries to convince him to give her one more shot. Raq finally tells Marvin the truth about Malcolm and Kanan and his reaction seems to be along the lines of protective. He tells his sister she could have told him this before but Raq’s worry was the streets finding out Kanan was a cop’s son.

Ronnie and Unique take a ride and based on the conversation, Ronnie is not a fan of Raq. Unique tries to explain to him that business has changed and sometimes you have to change with it — Ronnie rejects Unique’s stance.

Kanan and Famous discuss how they can make some money because Kanan refuses to go back home. Kanan asks Famous to link with the guy he buys his weed from, Simrad. When they meet, Simrad does not want to sell in the Southside after all the mafia problems nor does he trust Famous not to smoke up his product.

Lou-Lou airs his feelings about Raq to Marvin, while having several drinks. Marvin is quietly becoming the therapist of the family. He tells Marvin the truth about Scrap but Marvin still questions why Scrap lied about being at his cousin’s house. The two brothers still pour out some liquor for the fallen soldier.

Jukebox is trying to make her way, seeking employment somewhere. When she gets home, Marvin gives her a box of stuff that belonged to Kenya. He tells Jukebox that a service is being put on for Kenya at the church and if she wants to go, he would accompany her for support. Jukebox doesn’t immediately respond, so Marvin gets up to embrace her — she hugs him tightly and sobs on his chest. Whew, ya’ll know when you get that lil lump in ya throat and your eyes start to get a lil damp — yea that. Jukebox later goes through the box and finds a few classic records her mother left her.

Can we talk about Malcolm coming into Famous and Kanan’s spot and kicking Famous out? It should have never been that funny to me but Famous was standing on business until Raq handed him that money. Malcolm warns Kanan about the FBI sniffing around the Southside. Kanan tells him about Burke approaching him about the truth and Raq sees her as a huge problem.

Burke meets up with her boo who has been spooked by everyone questioning her about Burke. She told Burke to leave things alone and since she refused — she can no longer be involved with Burke.

Kanan goes to his old house and finds Lou-Lou there. Lou-Lou reveals how everything went down with D-Wiz and that Raq wanted him to carry out the orders to insure it would haunt him forever. Kanan tells his uncle that he could have said no, but in that moment remembers he never said no either.

Unique shows up to Raq’s place and they end up having sex with each other in her kitchen. I mean most of us saw this coming but will it actually work?

Jukebox is home listening to some of the records Kenya left her. She looks at her photos and reads some bible verses her mother had highlighted. She lays on the floor surrounded by the music and the photographs of her mom and herself. Marvin attends the service but can only bare it for a few moments, he walks out.

Malcolm and Burke have a one on one meet up in her car. It’s dark and isolated but Burke feels it is fitting to finally tell Malcolm what she knows. She is armed with a gun. Malcolm asks her how she is doing and Burke admits everything her life is falling apart thanks to him. He offers to help Burke save her job but instead she decides to run down all of the information she knows. Malcolm tells her even if she is correct, she can’t prove it. Burke also reveals that she knows he did things to cover his track, including killing Crackhead Sam. At that point Malcolm shoots Burke in the head — instantly killing her. He cleans up the scene to make it look like a suicide and mumbles that her antics made him do this. Malcolm discovers that Burke attempted to record the interaction also. He quickly gets out of the car, briskly walks across the street and drives off in his car.
