Let me lay out what I enjoyed most about this episode — Tommy. Tommy’s consistent bravado when it comes to dealing with the various street gangs in Chicago is such a draw back to the OG ‘Power’ series. This is where Tommy always thrived, bringing people together for one common goal — money and power.

Tommy

Tommy and Miyera are nearly caught by Miguel at Tommy’s place. She hides and is never detected by her brother. The two men have a conversation about the Serbs. Tommy convinces Miguel to cut off the drug supply to Mirkovic.

Diamond and Tommy have a rocky meeting with CBI, the Kilo’s, RD’s and Bones to form a plan for their coalition and not get caught up in a war against the Serbs. Although things get a bit bumpy because Jernard wants get back fot what happened in the projects, Tommy and Diamond assure everyone that get back will come.

Diamond

Diamond’s parole officer, Reeves, wants him to speak at a fundraiser for displaced residents of the Crimson Projects and renounce his CBI affiliation. Diamond tells Reeves that renouncing CBI is something he can not do. Reeves expresses that he may have been wrong about Diamond considering he has stayed on the up and up so far.

Diamond pays a visit to Leon and his mother Gianna. He invites them to the fundraiser and tells Leon that he will be giving a speech. Leon offers some advice, telling Diamond to just be honest — people will respect his words more. At the fundraiser, Diamond gives a moving speech about why he turned his life around and his hopes for a better community — he is celebrated by the listeners. After his speech, he finally asks Gianna on a date, which she accepts. We all saw how that date turned out.

Jernard/ Shanti/ Claudia

Can I say, I do not like Shanti. She can go on head and go! Jernard messed around and trusted a power hungry woman who will likely be his demise if he does not get her under control. Both Vic and Jernard seem to be completely done with Claudia which opens up a hole for Shanti to weasel her way into. She makes a deal with Claudia to push her pills in the private strip club. They agree to split all the earnings 50/50.

At the strip club, Claudia and Elise are robbed by two men for their belongings. When Claudia points the theives out to Shanti, she gets all the stolen property back for Claudia. Claudia is impressed by the strength Shanti seems to exude and with their business deal being very lucrative — the pair agree to continue the side business. Elise suggests Claud move her operation into another private club, but Claud wants to bring in Shanti too — Elise just wants this to be between them.

Jernard plots to finally kill Tommy, waiting outside of his apartment for an opportunity. Instead of killing Tommy, he watches as Mireya arrives. Tommy comes outside and gives Mireya a kiss and Jernard is able to capture a photo of the pair. Jernard visits Shanti at the boxing club and she admits to her business deal with Claudia. Jernard warns her about working with Claudia because of the position it puts him into with Tommy and Diamond. He shows Shanti the picture of Tommy and Mireya and she encourages him to sit on the photo for now.

Snitchin Vic

Vic is still playing his part in being a snitch. He tells Stacy that the Serbs were the ones responsible for the fire in the Crimson Projects. The DOJ is beginning to get restless at the state of the city and lack of results from the taskforce. Stacy tells them they have Vic on the inside and it should result in something soon. When her job is threatened, Stacy realizes she will have to put more pressure on Vic. Tommy is growing more suspicious about being followed and even points out a car that has been following him. Vic confronts Vargas and warns him about Tommy’s suspicions — but it’s ignored. Tommy and Diamond had a meeting set with the Division Street Devil’s, a Puerto Rican street gang but Diamond is unable to attend because of the fundraiser. Tommy decides he will bring Vic along.

Stacy decides this is the perfect time to mic up Vic with a wire. Vic expresses his concern with wearing a wire and what will happen if he is caught. Although Stacy seems to careless what happens to Vic, Vargas tells him that if things get hot, he can easily turn the wire off.

Miguel

Miguel brings the request to cut of the Serbs drug supply to Che. He ultimately agrees to cut the Serbs since Miguel is promising to make him even more money. Tommy asks Miguel for more product and he agrees to it. Tommy is ultimately plotting to cut Miguel completely out and Diamond is worried about what will happen when Miguel puts everything together. Miguel has dinner with his grandmother. He tells her about what has been happening with the business and she feels that Miguel may be making a grave mistake trusting Tommy. She discusses how her husband was undercut by his own people and she does not want that to happen to Miguel.

Tommy and Vic

Tommy and Vic arrive for the meeting with the Division Street Devil’s. This is where Tommy’s bravado comes into play when talking to the head of the street gang, Chabo. He tells Chabo that the Serbs are out and they are the only option now for a drug supplier. Chabo agrees to work with Tommy. Vic also gets the entire interaction on the wire. After the meeting, Tommy drops Vic to his car. As he is driving off he spots the car that has been following him and circles back. Tommy pops up while Vic is debriefing Vargas. Tommy asks Vic if he is working with him and Vic denies it. In order to prove to Tommy he is not a snitch, he shoots and kills Vargas.

Takeaways:

Anybody else suspicious that Jernard is still going to use? That brother is not going to be able to stay clean. I know ya’ll saw ‘New Jack City’

Diamond got his lady ya’ll! So is the cop lady gonna be mad about this? This may go left!

Vic killing Vargas wouldn’t prove a thing to me if I were Tommy. This man been following me for days and clearly you knew of him. Vic may be out of here.

Shanti can go. I’m not a fan of this bootleg Jukebox.
