We open tonight with Micah in one of his online courses speaking on Marcus Garvey’s ideologies to which his professor seems very impressed. He has a call with his mother who is in Southern California for a political assignment. He expresses how much he misses her. After the pair hang up, Micah gets a phone call from someone who clearly puts a smile on his face. Maybe a new love interest?

Prosper and Ralph Angel discuss the new crop for this year. It appears to be shaping out as a promising harvest for Ralph after a rocky previous harvest. Ralph is also taking on representing the Black Farmers Association in a lawsuit against the government, which makes Prosper very proud. Blue is also in town for a visit. Darla is very pregnant, so clearly a few months have passed. She is growing and glowing.

Vi’s Pies is back open. Vi expresses to Hollywood that she is upset about the last minute heads up about Blue being back in town. There is still a sore spot between Vi and Ralph Angel, understandably so.

Turns out Charley is actually in Southern California visiting Davis also. The pair still have not told anyone that they have reconciled. Davis seems to want to go all the way and maybe get re-married. Charley will be part of a New Leaders Summit and she is thinking about getting deeper into politics. Davis promises to be supportive of whatever she wants to do. He wants to go public with them being together again. Charley wants to tell the family first that they are dating again if they are truly serious, Davis is as serious as a heart attack.

Ralph Angel is getting a payday loan which will be he and Darla’s fourth one. He says the harvest coming next month should get them squared up again.

Nova is getting inside information from a police officer on police brutality in Louisiana. Nova assures him he is safe blowing the whistle on the department. He tells her he can not take watching the brutality anymore which is why he wants to talk to her. Nova answers a call from her porch, she gets an offer to be on the Today show. While looking for her key, she notices her door is open. She walks in slowly and realizes that she had rushed out and simply forgot to grab her keys and shut the door. Still, she appears paranoid.

Micah wakes up to a call from Aunt Vi, she showed up with breakfast for him but he wasn’t home. He lies and tells Vi he is at the library. He’s sleeping with his professor. Chile!

Ralph surprises Darla with the crib she wanted for the baby. I guess we know why he needed the loan. Ralph seems to be counting on the harvest to help them financially. He quit his job at the senior living facility because he did not want to endanger Darla or the baby. He also has the discrimination settlement in the works with the Black Farmers Association. Ralph gets a phone call from a collections service. Ralph has been delinquent on his payments, by 60 days. After 90 they will foreclose on his land.

Vi is supplying the food for the vaccination drive. She grabs her secret bag of food and tells Hollywood she is going to the church. Vi pulls up to a motel with her bag of food. She drops the food at the door, knocks and walks away. We never see who answers the door.

Nova picks up Prosper to take him to be vaccinated. He thanks Nova for caring about him after feeling like the world doesn’t. When they arrive, it appears a lot of outsiders have come to St. Joe to receive vaccinations. Ralph and Hollywood help at the vaccination drive. Micah is taking photos for a project he has. Hollywood is officially opening up “The Spot” and offers to allow Micah to present his work there. Ralph is passing out paper work on the lawsuit that the Black Farmers Association has against the government. It appears the vaccination drive may be running low on doses but Nova comes up with a plan to hopefully stop the outsiders from getting vaccinated. Meanwhile, Vi rants about Ralph, Charley and Nova’s life decisions.

Nova turns away anyone that is not a resident of St. Joe and it gets ugly. People are complaining about being in line all day and they refuse to leave without their shot. When Nova sees someone stealing doses of the vaccine she calls the police. Micah questions her decision, especially after her article about defunding the police. A white woman accuses Nova of reverse racism and when a police officer shows up he forces a Black resident of St. Joe to go back home to get her identification. The officer doesn’t wish to help Nova because of her article on defunding the police. When Prosper gets into it with a white women at the drive, a white officer intervenes and pushes Prosper down to the ground causing him to hit his head.

Takeaways:

Micah and this professor is a mess especially with his mother being involved in politics.

I am here for Charley and Davis, regardless of how Vi feels about it.

Not Prosperrrr!!! I am just boiling internally at the thought of Prosper’s condition.
