Rakim Hasheem Allen aka PNB Rock was tragically killed stemming from a robbery attempt in Los Angeles yesterday.
Hailing from Philadelphia, PNB Rock began his rise to prominence in 2014 after the release of a mixtape he penned while in prison. The buzz that followed led to him landing a deal with Atlantic Records. He went on to release notable mixtapes ‘RnB3’ and ‘GTTM: Goin Thru the Motions’ that garnered national attention. His hit single “Selfish” landed on the Billboard Hot 100 resulting in a Rolling Stone “10 Artists You Need to Know” spot.
The XXL 2017 Freshmen Class member was a frequent collaborator with many of the top acts in music. His trap crooner style could be heard on songs with A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie, Ed Sheeran, Kodak Black and many more. He left a mark on music with his unique voice that blended singing and rapping, along with his knack of switching between street subject matter and spilling his emotions in a song.
Allen is survived by his two daughters and a host of family, friends and fans that will keep his legacy alive.
