Ola and Jason are at a bar watching the game to unwind however relationships quickly become the topic of conversation when Jason begins to discuss his upcoming divorce from Renee. While at the bar, ironically Ola bonds for a moment over the appreciation of ass with Chris. Remember Chris? The guy Whitney slept with after the Soulja Boy party, yea a little too close to home. Anderson stops in to catch up with the guys and Ola decides this was the perfect time to invite him to Ella’s birthday get together, now Ola.

Ella is extremely down on herself for this birthday. She is turning 32 and feels she has failed at relationships as well as her career. Renee tries to remind her that she is doing fine and to just look to enjoying her party later. Renee is working hard for a promotion at work but her co-worker asks if she really wants to make this type of move in the middle of dealing with a divorce. Renee feels she is perfectly fine but we all know things are still very fresh.

Whitney and Ola discuss future married life and even children. Ola jokes about having four and Whitney appears to be happy with the conversation. However, I wonder about the doubts Whitney expressed previously. Sondi and Matt seem to be better minus the fact Matt wants to go public with their relationship. Sondi does not want her reputation or her hard work at school to be seen as something she gained by sleeping with her advisor but Matt feels Sondi is worth whatever could happen to his career by going public.

Ella runs into Ryan at a screening for a film that she has been assigned to watch and interview the star. She let’s Ryan know that his mishap with his penis was understandable and forgiven. When it was Ella’s turn to interview the star she questioned why she wanted portray the typical successful lonely Black woman. The actress explained to her that it is a reality for many Black women and it got Ella to thinking about herself. When the ladies all meet up they discuss Ella’s fears of having children late or never having them at all. Whitney also addresses that her wedding jitters have disappeared but I think everyone has their doubts.

Ella’s karaoke party kicks off. Whitney and Ola show up to the party dressed up as Nelly and Kelly and of course they sing ‘Dilemma.’ Chris also shows up to the party because Renee invites him. Whitney is immediately sick at the sight of him being there. She pulls Ella to the side and admits to her she slept with Chris after the Soulja Boy party. Matt and Sondi seem to be enjoying their night. On their way out they run into Anderson on his way in. Anderson goes into the party room and Ella is drunk singing Alanis Morissette’s song ‘You Oughta Know’ which is fitting for their current situation. Anderson and Ella go to eat. Anderson explains why he stayed in South Africa for a longer period of time than expected and that he returned for her. The bartender presents her with a cupcake and a candle. He tells her to make a wish and she blows out her candle.

Takeaways:

Still no resolve on Whitney’s end minus almost being outed in front of her fiance for sleeping with another man.

Ella and Anderson will likely work things out, at least that’s what the signs shows.

I like Sondi and Matt together however I understand keeping the relationship low. They both stand to lose a lot going public right now.
