Hope is getting married ya’ll! Yes it is completely unexpected considering she has only been seeing her mystery man for four months. He is an artist by the name of Francisco. Renee already knew most of the details about the relationship which leaves Whitney feeling a little jealous. She is concerned that Hope is rushing into marriage as a reaction to what happened between herself and Ola however Renee thinks that Hope is just not worried about being perfect anymore.

Renee has a couple of flashbacks throughout the episode to how she and Jason met. She ran into him at a boutique he worked in. Jason guessed that Renee worked in advertisement and he told her about his pursuit of a career in finance. The pair seemed to hit off immediately — very similar to Hope and Francisco.

At the university, Sondi has been hiding out in her office and even avoiding a department mixer. She is running from judgment after her breakup with Matthew. Professor Baptiste stops in to see her and give her news that she is a candidate in an upcoming fellowship, all she needs to do is write an essay in about two weeks. Sondi seems lackluster about the news. Professor Baptiste reminds her that this is an opportunity to be paid and have research assistance while she completes her dissertation.

The girls finally meet Francisco and although he’s not what they expected, he is very friendly and loving towards Hope. He showers the ladies with compliments after he has already heard so much about them. We also see a glimpse of a sculpture he is working on of Hope. Hope disrobes in front of the ladies so Francisco can continue with the piece — displaying some new found freedom.

At the bachelorette party, Hope gets news that her bridal gown will not be ready. The news does not rattle her at all which comes as a surprise to Whitney, Renee and Sondi. Hope goes on to explain that she is a new version of herself now. The old Hope was over worked, miserable and a bit of a perfectionist but she now feels free and happy — something that seems to strike a cord with Whitney.

The girls heads out to a club to continue the bachelorette celebration. Hope has Francisco meet them at the club. At the bar, Whitney runs into her barista who happens to be on a date with Ola. The situation is very awkward at first but when Ola’s date goes to use the bathroom, the former couple have a friendly conversation. It appears Whitney is starting to become more comfortable in her single status. Ola tells Whitney he heard she is moving and asks where is she potentially going next. She tells Ola her plan is to finally buy a home. The news prompts him to apologize for holding Whitney back years ago from owning property because he wanted to be married first.

Finally we have reached the day of the wedding and the ceremony moves just as quick as Hope and Francisco’s relationship did, with a simple “I Do” and no vows. As Renee watches Hope and Francisco, she slips and finally admits she is still in love with Jason.

Takeaways:

FINALLY!!! Renee admits what we all already knew! Now girl, go get Jason back!!

Whitney and Ola’s conversation was needed. Seems like Whit may be the more healed party at this point, judging by the look on Ola’s face when they parted ways. The ball was in his court but maybe Whitney is just cool being single now.

I think Sondi is still having a hard time with the breakup and Amari’s reaction to it. She deeply cared for Amari and feeling like her love may have been in vain, could be doing a number on our girl.
