Let’s dive into the profiles of players earmarked for selections 11 through 20.

11. Minnesota Vikings — Jared Verse, Edge, FSU

  • Facing cap constraints and the need for defensive rejuvenation, the Vikings turn to Jared Verse from FSU. A cost-effective upgrade, Verse emerges as a potential cornerstone for the Vikings’ defense. As seasoned veterans age, Verse’s arrival could herald a new era of defensive prowess in Minnesota.

12. Denver Broncos — Michael Penix Jr., QB, Washington

  • With the Broncos potentially eyeing a quarterback transition post-Russell Wilson, Michael Penix Jr. emerges as a promising candidate. His meteoric rise at Washington, including a national championship game appearance, positions him as a potential heir apparent. Despite unorthodox mechanics, Penix offers high potential and the prospect of developing into a steady starting quarterback.

13. Las Vegas Raiders — Rome Odunze, WR, Washington

  • In a scenario where Russell Wilson joins the Raiders, surrounding him with top-tier talent becomes paramount. Enter Rome Odunze, a standout wide receiver from Washington. Statistically one of the best in college football, Odunze provides a dynamic complement to Davante Adams and the opportunity to learn from one of the NFL’s greatest receivers.

14. New Orleans Saints — Amarius Mims, OT, UGA

  • The Saints, seeking offensive upgrades, set their sights on Georgia’s Amarius Mims. Addressing the need for improved protection, Mims, with elite physical tools, becomes an investment in the health and development of the next quarterback. With zero sacks allowed in 30 games, Mims showcases the potential to become an elite lineman.

15. Indianapolis Colts — Cooper Dejean, CB, Iowa

  • After a surprisingly successful season, the Colts look to solidify their secondary. Cooper Dejean, a cornerback from Iowa, emerges as a potential piece to complete the defensive puzzle. Excelling as a slot cornerback or safety, Dejean’s well-rounded skills could significantly strengthen the Colts’ play in the secondary.

16. Seattle Seahawks — Taliese Fuaga, OT, Oregon St

  • In addressing D-line needs during the trade deadline we turn to O-line needs. The Seahawks opt for offensive line reinforcement with Taliese Fuaga from Oregon St. Known for versatility, Fuaga can play inside or outside, potentially becoming one of Seattle’s best offensive linemen within a few years. The pick aims to benefit not only quarterback Geno Smith but also elevate running back Kenneth Walker’s performance.

17. Jacksonville Jaguars — Troy Fautanu, OT, Washington

  • With Trevor Lawrence underperforming 2023 season, the Jaguars acknowledge their need for an improved offensive line. Enter Troy Fautanu, a versatile lineman from Washington with experience in both inside and outside positions. With only 3 sacks and 4 QB hits given up in four years, Fautanu becomes the foundational piece for fortifying the Jaguars’ front line.

18. Cincinnati Bengals — Jer’Zhan Newton, DT, Illinois

  • With Joe Burrow’s return on the horizon, the Bengals pivot to defensive reinforcement. Jer’Zhan Newton, widely regarded as one of the top defensive lineman in the class, becomes a strategic pick. Plugging Newton into a defense brimming with young defensive talent, gives the Bengals a chance to solidify their defensive unit, elevating the team’s overall performance.

19. Los Angeles Rams — Terrion Arnold, CB, Alabama

  • The Rams find themselves in a unique spot as they found ways to win throughout last season and ultimately even landing a playoff berth. Many thought this was a team that could have potentially been selecting in the top 10. With many top Olineman already off the board, why not try to help fortify their secondary. The Rams set their sights on Terrion Arnold, one of the most versatile defensive backs in this year’s class. Arnold’s commitment to the NFL Draft opens the door for the Rams to pair him with Jordan Fuller and Cobie Durant, creating a formidable defensive backfield.

20. Pittsburgh Steelers — Graham Barton, LT, Duke

  • Opting against the potential of a QB selection, the Steelers focus on rebuilding their O-line with the experienced Graham Barton from Duke. With significant playing time under his belt, Barton’s explosive run blocking and solid athleticism position him as an impactful addition. His arrival complements the previous success with RT Broderick Jones, aiming to solidify the Steelers’ offensive front.

As the draft narrative unfolds, these picks represent strategic moves by each team to address specific needs, laying the foundation for the future success of both players and franchises alike. The NFL landscape eagerly awaits the impact these talented individuals will bring to their new homes.
