Something in the Water

Something in the Water was sadly rained out this weekend. Saturday had the best weather and gave festival goers some great performances from Summer Walker, SWV and Pharrell. Pharrell has promised more acts next year and some date adjustments in hopes of not repeating the cancellations of this year. Sunday a tornado touched down in Virginia Beach causing significant damage to homes and down trees — thankfully no serious injuries or deaths were reported. Refunds for Something in the Water have also been issued due to the weather cancellations.

Warriors in 7

In a historic game 7 performance in the 1st round of the NBA playoffs, Steph Curry scored 50 points, wheeling the Golden State Warriors to a 120 to 100 point victory over the Sacramento Kings. The Warriors are the favored team in round two against Lebron James and The Lakers.

2023 Iverson Classic

The Iverson Classic occurred on Saturday with two Kentucky Wildcat Basketball signees winning co-MVP. Both DJ Wagner and Justin Edwards were honored at the conclusion of the game.

The Met Gala is Coming

The stars were prepping for Met Gala Monday and our favorite weekend look goes to Rihanna in vintage Chanel. Can’t wait to see all of the looks tonight. The theme this year is honoring the late Karl Lagerfeld.

Bank Tank

JPMorgan Chase takes over First Republic Bank. This is the third bank failure since March.

Mental Health Awareness Month

May is Mental Health Awareness Month and we here at The Lyons Den advocate for Black Mental Health. Look for resources all month long.
