Southwest Macon High School senior, Justin Slocum, has always envisioned playing collegiate sports. He is a two-sport stud who has enjoyed a substantial amount of success in both basketball and football. The decision of which sport he would decide to play at the collegiate level was a difficult one for him given his level of success and love that he has for both sports. However, a breakout senior campaign on the hardwood this season really influenced his thought process and swayed him more towards basketball.

The 6-foot-6 forward averaged 20.6ppg 12.4rpg & 2.2bpg en route to being named Region 2AAA Player of the Year, AJC Class AAA All-State First Team, Macon Telegraph All-Middle Georgia Second Team as well as Sandy’s Spiel Class AAA All-State First Team & Best Rebounder.

Likewise, he was selected to the Hypesouth All-City First Team and named Region 2AAA Player of the year.

When asked about his decision to choose Columbia State Community College, Slocum explained, Coach Neal really made me feel comfortable with him and the program. He seemed truly genuine in having my best interest at heart. Also, being able to get away from home along with potentially having the opportunity to come in and play valuable minutes as a freshman played a big part in my decision.

Justin plans on majoring in sports medicine and is also interested in serving as a secret service agent for the President of the United States one day.

CONGRATS TO THE SLOCUM FAMILY & GOOD LUCK JUSTIN!
