Westside Seminoles — Macon, Ga.

The Westside Seminoles boys basketball team is 13–3 overall, 8–1 region. As the season moves along, the Seminoles are starting to really defend and rebound the ball well according to assistant coach Monquencio Hardnett. “We are just really getting after it on the defensive end, everybody is helping one another out, which is leading to easy buckets on the offensive side” says Hardnett. Additionally, Sophomore point guard, Samone Reed is starting to chip in and take some of the offensive load off of 5 star prospect, Khavon Moore. Reed led all scorers with 19pts on 4 of 6 shooting from the three point strike on Friday night (1/8/16) to help lift Westside to victory over Jackson.

Central Chargers — Macon,Ga

The Central Chargers are 12–2 overall, 5–1 region. They are currently ranked #6 in the state’s AAA classification. The Chargers have a well balanced attack and a lot of depth, which should keep them in position to compete for the region title as they enter the second half of the regular season. Central is lead by Derrick Evans, Kentrevious Jones, and Anterious McCoy. When the talented trio is clicking, the Chargers are a force to be reckoned with. Southwest Patriots — Macon, Ga

The Southwest Patriots are 12–3 overall, 8–1 region. Southwest is by far the most surprising team in region 2-AAA this season. They are currently ranked #9 in the state’s AAA classification. Justin Slocum is the go to guy on both ends of the floor. He is heavily relied upon to score (22.6), rebound (12.8), and defend for the patriots. In fact, Head Coach, Robert Worthy states “We kind of depend on Justin for a lot of things. When the game is on the line, he has that tendency to come through for us.” However, the addition of transfer point guard Nicholas Hargrove may very well be the difference in Southwest’s season thus far. He is averaging 19.7ppg,4.2rpg, and a team leading 5.7apg. Moreover, a pair of freshman (Alontae Tarver & Jordan Slocum) have emerged as key contributors for the Patriots since starter, Aaron Ridley, has been forced to the sidelines due to injury. Southwest faces Howard — Macon, Ga on Saturday (1/9/16) at 2:00p.m. Click link Directions
