Rutland (Macon,Ga) Alumni, Tylik Evans, Thriving At The Next Level
Tylik Evans had a stellar high school career for the Rutland (Macon,Ga) Hurricanes. Evans led Rutland to back to back elite 8 appearances — 2013 & 2014 — and is the school’s all-time leading scorer.
Collegiate: Academics & Athletics
Nowadays, Tylik Evans is busy making a name for himself on the collegiate level. The 5'8 freshman point guard has helped the Junior College — JUCO — Georgia Highlands Chargers, get off to a 13–1 record to start the 2015–2016 season, with their only loss coming to the defending NJCAA National champion, Northwest Florida. Midway through the season, Georgia Highlands is currently ranked #4 in the NJCAA National Rankings. Evans has transitioned really well to the college level, and is a key contributor in the Chargers early season success. Additionally, his relentless effort and tenacity on both ends of the floor has put four year Universities on notice. He is garnering some interest from several four year programs, in which he will be able to further display his talents on yet another level of competition if offered a scholarship.

Since enrolling into college, Evans has also excelled in the classrooms. He passed all of his classes during the first semester. Likewise, when asked about his collegiate experience thus far, Evans added:
“I have become a more mature person that has a different outlook on life, I want to succeed both on and off of the basketball court.”
