Macon, Georgia native, Sharone Wright Sr., enjoyed an illustrious basketball career during his time as a player. He was successful on every level — high school, collegiate, professional — however, nowadays he is busy mentoring and passing along his knowledge to high school basketball players in Florence, South Carolina where his son, Sharone Wright Jr., is the starting point guard for the West Florence Knights basketball team.

Wright Jr. is one of the most prolific up and coming prep basketball players in the country. His dad put a basketball into his hands at two years old, and Wright Jr. has held it close every since. Wright Sr. credits legendary Southwest (Macon, Ga) High School head basketball coach, Donald “Duck” Richardson, for instilling great moral values in him, which has greatly helped his approach in showing his son the way to being a great man and a disciplined basketball player. Additionally, Wright Sr. added “I would also like to recognize fellow Macon, Ga natives Mike Hardnett and Aubry Boyd for giving me great advice and tips on how to raise a son when I was younger,” as he explained the importance of his Macon, Ga roots in helping him pave the way for his son.

After spending countless hours practicing and training with his son over the years, the elder Wright is finally starting to see the results as he watches Wright Jr. evolve into one of the nation’s top high school basketball prospects. Given that Wright Sr. Competed against some of the NBA’s all time greats during his professional career in the mid 90’s, he stated “I see a lot of Penny Hardaway in him because he is a big/skilled 6'5 point guard” when asked which NBA player his son’s game most resembles.
