and Halloween reading joy

Long ago, when the sun was still shining and the leaves had not yet withered on the trees, Daphelba DeBeauvoir had a dark plan, which turned into a spine-chilling plot, then a blood-curdling gathering of the most courageous of writing souls.

Sweet and innocent yet … little did we at The Mad River know the horror … the sheer terror … the frightfulness that was to come … nor that sleep would come no more or we would have so much pleasure from the lack of it.

Thanks to all the wonderful writers who have joined us on 13 Days of Dark and Weird and on The Mad River, thanks for rising to the challenge so gloriously, and wielding your words to victory. Below find a list of the brave and the bold (in the order I found them on the spreadsheet), who came to us fresh-faced and innocent and left us warped and weary, sated with fiction, pale from poetry, and horror-ready for Halloween. It’s been our kind of hell.

The lion-hearted (follow them if you dare … you won’t regret it):

*Place at the top because despite all their amazing submissions I managed to miss them off the list. *grovels*

Despite the curdled blood, the chilled backbones and the tickled ribs (and did I mention the nightmares?) we wouldn’t have missed it for the world.

But wait … just as our weary bodies came to rest in the lull and eddy and flow…a whisper from the forest…thirteen more days of … a new challenge coming soon…
