Hiking with my camera is one of my favorite activities when life feels overwhelming or hectic. It’s something I can do alone or with my kids, and it gets me out in nature, which I love.

On my last two hikes I went to McKinney Falls State Park in Texas. It’s late fall and the trees are still green because it’s been so hot. The leaves are starting to droop though.

I’m afraid this year the leaves will go from green to brown before they fall off and we’re left with winter’s barren landscape. No typical fall colors to grace my lens this year, but I can still capture some beautiful moments.

On these hikes I look for tiny treasures with my camera. My sons were a big part of the beauty in each moment I captured, but there were other creatures too.
