Why do people avoid real answer when its already there and still do unnecessary discussions?
What people want to prove to the world around?
It is a real thing which happened with me on LinkedIn. Some random person’s post appeared on my wall because a connection of mine liked or commented on his post.
And the question he posted was far away from his working background and knowledge. Still he was trying to pull up some random attention. Well at first, I thought he just want to know the scenario as he might be unaware of the thing.
But later, discovered he is not interested in answer, what he seeks is some attention or show off, of his intellectual on LinkedIn to be portrait as a leader and some company may hire him. Well that is what people do on LinkedIn these days.
LinkedIn is a Facebook of job seekers.
And unnecessary people try to become some leader or well wishers of society. But from inside most of them are same. Like me, or just any other person in your circle you may know.
Hero’s from outside and Zeros from inside.
He was a consultant at a reputed MNC in Gurgaon. His work does not involve anything to do with a software testers job and life. I am a software tester, who knows the exact hardships we go through. Companies are not interested to pay good to manual testers. Even other companies are not ready to hire us with desired pay.
I have struggled a lot to find a job in same field. I worked like hell, late hours, sometimes more than what expected. Yes, good times have also been there. But less. And after the experience of 4 years in same field, the salary I was paid was extremely low.
I have lost the complete interest to work in the same field, and even the interest to work.
This corporate world is like worst world I ever came across. Yup it did gave me bread i must be thankful but with the moving pace of life bread is not enough. Some are paid extremely high while other extremely low.
But now can’t just shut my mouth or views just in respect of something which they lost with time.
Corporate want the person to work like animals at low pays. It is a zoo. Caring from outside only.
This was what going on with me. And with a lot of testers. Not much jobs outside, thought there are, but hardly anyone willing to pay the required.
I still feel my youth got wasted working.
With just life moving and not much desires got fulfilled.
And in these valid conditions a person wish to change the carrier path and move to some other technology, does he/she do any crime? Everyone wants a good life. So do testers.
So, this gentleman on LinkedIn unaware of the life the other person might be going through posted
“Yesterday during a discussion with one of my friend of him mentioned him that he is planning to switch his career from Testing (6+ Years) to XYZ due to less scope in Testing.
His argument went to ask him some basic questions on the craft, definitely on which he not to his surprise was confused to answer. (Well i ask you are you to judge anyone? Are a Tester? Do you know the insights? Even testers themselves reject some candidates due to same reason while they themselves are not knowledgeable well enough of there craft.)
He felt why someone feel that any career doesn’t has much scope when they haven’t been able to explore it fully. (What he might have explored? Did you ask?)
It is not about a career shift. It is more on being wise enough in taking a change in the career gear on basis of what an individual loves rather than just following any trend.What you guys think?”
Well the discussion started and many people entered discussion and put there views, most of them were not from the same field arguing that people are disinterested in their fields, they change because of uninterested, of managers, of better pays, etc.
Some better payed testers from automation field supported his views.
To which I say, at the experience of 6+ years companies expect the person to be extremely good at automation, which if the person has not worked will not be able to be good at it. (Try appearing for interviews yourself in these conditions)
There can be many aspects to this, might be the person wanted to work automation engineer at earlier stages of career but did not got chance. Now if they believe chances are to be taken, which did not come, then I will say better not compare your life with anyone’s. You were lucky enough to got chances and he was not
And moving to automation also at this experience wont fetch him any good. He will not be extremely good at it. It may take time for him to deliver the expertise, but companies do not expect a fresher.
So, if someone is moving to any other field of job, just praise he can explore, and you cannot. If you could have, you were not been discussing someone else life.
And this guy was taking interest in all the comments was discussing without the knowledge about the same, not even a person from the same field.
I also commented that “You must try searching for testing job. You will get to know. :)”
Well my answer unheard. It was clear cut, try yourself and you will know the problems by yourself. Discussion are just other people views whom didn’t come across those problems.
It had all the answers. Like you are discussing about a random person life. What he might be going through, you all are not going at the same time. If you will be in his shoes you will get know. It was just an answer to finish the conversation.
But the conversations kept on going without noticing my answer. He answered every comment but ignored mine. Well I am not jealous or worried of getting ignored as I often get ignored because of my views and that is why I am here. To speak my heart out.
But their fun of unnecessary discussion did not end. When the answer is straight away lying in front of him or them. In a single line “You must try searching for testing job. You will get to know. :)”
Seriously humans are crazy. And only trying to prove something to the outer world out of some one else life.
