Canadian Muslims Gather For Peace
Muslims in many major cities in Canada will be gathering in the freezing January cold to support a widespread movement promoting and acting peacefully.
On the 31st of January, in Toronto, Ottawa, London and Kingston, public gatherings will be organized to ‘show support for universal values of peaceful coexistence and human dignity.’
Though timely, the event is neither a demonstration nor directly referencing local or global politics. It is simply the result of a groundswell of peace-activism in the Muslim community in general, an excellent opportunity to support the community, and a great place to do good and network.
Donations for food and clothing drives will be accepted at the locations, and speakers will talk about Islamic history, Current events, and what Muslims can do in Canada to promote peace and harmony.
The event will be taking place on January 31st from 1PM to 3PM.
Official locations for the gatherings include:
Toronto: Nathan Phillips Square
Ottawa: Human Rights Movement
London: Victoria Park
Kingston: Kingston City Hall
