Oh, the joys of having no power!

When disaster strikes and power is out, you really learn a lot about yourself.

Here is what Floridians did after Hurricane Irma took all the power and lights with it: by finally learning how to use the grill in ways besides just grilling; by having a legitimate excuse to lie in bed all day and night doing nothing; by getting several trash bags and finally cleaning out your closet; by cleansing yourself in the pool which has turned into an outdoor bathtub; re-learning how to have a conversation with your family in person and not over the phone; by having a romantic ravioli dinner out of the can by candlelight; by finally being able to drink the entire handle of rum in one evening without any judgment being passed; by fishing all those shoreline spots you’ve always known had fish but were off-limits; by learning how to ration water and gasoline like they were never going to exist again; by testing what can actually be eaten uncooked and then regretting it the next morning; by finally learning how to live life in the Sunshine State the real, old-fashioned way.
