Summer Demo Day 2023
Each Fellowship year, Marcy Lab School Fellows conclude their project-based curriculum with a multi-week project called the Civic Tech Hackathon, which culminates in a virtual Demo Day event to showcase their community-conscious web apps to the entire Marcy Lab community.
What is the Civic Tech Hackathon?
Civic Technology Hackathon is the culmination of Marcy’s Leadership and Development Curriculum and Technical Curriculum, weaving together every part of a Fellows’ Marcy Lab School academic experience thus far. More specifically, it is an opportunity for Fellows to come together to solve real-world problems facing their communities using the technology stack they have learned at Marcy to build a production-ready web application. At The Marcy Lab School, we are different from a traditional college or coding boot camp in that we strive to foster and develop our Fellows’ leadership and innovation.
This Demo Day, we celebrated the accomplishments of our Fall 2022 Fellows, who created real products that tackle critical issues, from the impending climate crisis to supporting individuals impacted by the criminal justice system. A special thanks and shoutout to the dedicated volunteers and mentors who helped our Fellows bring their ideas to life!
With just three months remaining in their Fellowship year, these incredible engineers will soon join teams in some of tech’s most impactful companies. If you or someone in your professional network is looking to hire early-career software engineers, don’t hesitate to get in touch with our Partnerships Team!
