Summer Demo Day 2024
Each Fellowship year, Marcy Lab School Fellows conclude their project-based curriculum with a multi-week project called Civic Tech Hackathon, which culminates in a virtual Demo Day event to showcase their community-conscious web apps to the entire Marcy Lab community.
What is the Civic Tech Hackathon?
Civic Technology Hackathon is the culmination of the Marcy Lab Leadership & Development Curriculum and Technical Curriculum, weaving together every part of a Fellows’ Marcy Lab School academic experience thus far. More specifically, it is a multi-week project build that enables our Fellows to work together in teams to create full-stack, production-ready web apps to solve real-world problems facing their communities.
Summer Demo Day 2024
This Demo Day, we celebrated the accomplishments of our Fall 2023–24 Fellows, whose apps tackle critical issues, from the homelessness crisis in NYC and housing insecurity to deepening political awareness and activism in communities. A special thanks and shoutout to the dedicated volunteers and mentors who helped our Fellows bring these ideas to life! The full event can be viewed here.
With just three months remaining in their Fellowship year, these incredible engineers will soon join teams in some of tech’s most impactful companies. If you or someone in your professional network is interested in hiring incredible early-career engineers, don’t hesitate to get in touch with our Partnerships Team.
