MASSACHUSETTS, USA — The Markey Times is a Students For Markey publication.

The Organizers Behind Students For Markey

Amanda Westlake (she/her) is a rising sophomore at Tufts University and a fellow on the Markey campaign. Originally from Wakefield, MA, Amanda has volunteered on several campaigns across Massachusetts, is involved in the Sunrise Movement at Tufts, and is the membership director of New Progressive Leaders and a member of the MA Democratic State Committee. She’s excited to be working for Ed Markey because of his leadership on environmental justice and Alzheimer’s disease. In her free time, Amanda enjoys playing Tetris and spending time with her family. Follow Amanda on Twitter at @AmandaMWestlake!

Calla Walsh (she/her) is a high school student and organizer from Cambridge, Massachusetts. This summer, she will be spending her time working for progressive candidates. She is one of the field leads on the Students For Markey team and she can be found on Twitter as @CallaWalsh.

Cherilyn Strader (she/her) is a rising first year at Brandeis University from Northampton, Massachusetts. Presently, she is a gap year student who only enjoys hanging out with her cat more than canvassing. She’s thrilled to work with students from across Massachusetts to send Ed back to the Senate! Follow her on Twitter at @CherilynStrader.

Daniela Finlay (she/her) is a New Yorker and a rising sophomore at Wellesley College. She is an organizer and a big fan of her home state (a fact that we are frequently reminded of). Follow her on Twitter at @DanielaFinlay.

Hayley Fleming (she/her) is a rising Senior studying Political Science and Music at Amherst College. Hayley currently serves as the President of College Democrats of Massachusetts. Her policy interests include health policy, education policy, and environmental justice. Originally from Tampa, Florida, she has experience interning for a congressional primary campaign, a government agency, and two congressional offices. This summer, she is serving as the Public Policy intern for Girl Scouts of America. When she’s not doing work for CDMA, you can find her playing jazz piano, capsizing boats at Amherst Club Sailing practice, or leading her Junior Girl Scout troop. Follow her on twitter at @HayleyBFleming

Jack Dubow (he/him) is a rising high school senior from Wakefield, Massachusetts and our residential tiktoker. He will be co-hosting The Markey podcast with Jenny this summer. You can follow him on Twitter at @jack_dubow.

Jenny Chen (she/her) is a political science student and an aspiring civil rights attorney. She is a debater, an organizer, and a proud daughter of Massachusetts. She is in this fight alongside Senator Ed Markey for a Green New Deal and a just transition. Her role on Students For Markey includes being editor of The Markey Times, co-hosting The Markey (our new podcast), and running the social media team. She can be found on Twitter as @jennychen8601 where she tweets way too much about organizing and academia.

Kaitlynn Castillo is a recent graduate of UMass Boston in Political Science and Public Policy. She will be continuing her education this upcoming year by working on her Masters of Public Administration. Kait currently serves as the Vice President of College Democrats of Massachusetts. She is originally from Los Angeles and loves sunny weather and iced coffee. You can follow her on Twitter at @kaitlynncast.

Sophie Coyne (she/her) is a graduating high school senior who plans to study political and environmental science. When not working on campaigns or advocating locally, she can be found spending time outdoors, which is why she values Senator Markey’s leadership on environmental justice. Her role on Students for Markey includes helping run the Instagram, planning events, and helping conduct phonebanks. She can be found on twitter as @_sophiecoyne_.

Tristan Niedzielski (he/him) is a rising high school senior from Marlborough, MA and the Executive Director of MFOL MetroWest. He is a fellow on the Markey campaign and was inspired by the Senator’s consistent support for comprehensive gun violence prevention and environmental justice. You can find him on Twitter as @TristanSN3.

We cannot wait to share our stories with you.

Remember:

Organize, not agonize.

Vote Markey on September 1st.

Sincerely,

Team Students For Markey
