Evesham Police Department warns residents to prepare for upcoming Papal visit
In anticipation of the Papal visit, the Evesham Police Department is coordinating efforts with state, county and other local law enforcement agencies in the area to ensure the highest level of safety within the township. Travelers should expect traffic congestion throughout South Jersey due to this international event.
Those who are planning to travel anytime Friday, Sept. 25 through Monday, Sept. 28 should expect increased traffic delays along State Highway 70, 73 and all major thoroughfares.
Main Street will also be closed in all directions on Saturday, Sept. 26 from 6:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. due to the township’s annual Harvest Festival.
NJ Transit reports that the only bus running through the township during the event will be the #406 route which will be running on an accelerated schedule. Increased officer presence will be noted at those stop locations due to an anticipated rise in ridership.
The department will have additional patrols working throughout the duration of the event to ensure the safe travel and safety of our community.
The public is reminded to have increased awareness during this event and report anything suspicious immediately to law enforcement.
