Belgium, the country famous for it’s rich history and charming cities, delicious chocolate and exotic sites had always been on my travel list. I embarked on a remarkable journey to discover this gem in the heart of Europe.

My adventure began in the cosmopolitan capital of Brussels. The city’s striking duality was immediately apparent. On one hand, I was surrounded by the grandeur of historic architecture, like the iconic Atomium, a symbol of post-war modernism, and the impressive Grand Place, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, famous for its wonderful corporate buildings.

On the other hand, I found myself in the middle of the administrative center of the European Union, marked by beautiful and modern architecture.

My next stop was the charming city of Bruges. The picturesque canals, cobblestone streets and medieval architecture transported me to a fairy tale world. I spent the day strolling along peaceful canals, exploring charming squares, and admiring the intricate lace work that Bruges was famous for.

One of the highlights of my visit to Bruges was a cruise on the city’s canals. This provided a unique perspective on the city, allowing me to appreciate its beauty from a different perspective. I also couldn’t resist the temptation to climb the Bruges Belfry, which offers breathtaking panoramic views of the city.

Ghent, a city often overshadowed by its more famous neighbors, has proven itself to be a hidden gem. Its medieval architecture and vibrant atmosphere immediately captivated me. I spent some time exploring historic Gravensteen Castle, walking around St.Bavon Cathedral and discover unique street art.

My journey continued to Antwerp, a city with a rich cultural heritage. I was fascinated by the works of famous Baroque painter Peter Paul Rubens at the Rubenshuis and explored the impressive Notre Dame Cathedral, which houses masterpieces by artists such as Pieter Paul Rubens and Jacob de Backer.

My visit to Brussels wouldn’t have been complete without sampling Belgian cuisine. I loved the delicious waffles, crispy potato chips and the dark chocolates.

My visit to Belgium was an unforgettable experience with a rich tapestry of history, delicious cuisine and warm hospitality. This country left an indelible mark on my heart. The combination of medieval architecture with modern urban life highlights the diversity of this European gem.

I left with deep gratitude for the culture, heritage and the beautiful aura of the friendly people I came across, carrying with me precious memories that will certainly last a lifetime.
