The Little Brown Girl

You meet thousands of people and none of them really touch you. And then you meet that one person and your life is changed. Forever.

There was a little brown girl
Her smile made my world whirl
It was like a string of pearls
Her lustrous hair would rest in curls.

She was a pillar of unwavering honesty
To her, innuendos would sound like a travesty
Her laugh would sound like a bubbling stream
She had innumerable lofty ideals, and many more a dream.

Trees she would climb, fall down and would get stitches
Once she was outside, she wouldn’t care, she still jumped over all the ditches
She loved the road like crazy, the little girl loved to travel
She traveled through them all, from sand and stones till gravel.

She would often dwell on thoughts which she would randomly on her whim pick
She never really cared, if they would hurt or if they would prick
When her temper is raging and fiery, her eyes would be alight
You can feed her (what she needed), and she would say “Well, it’s just right”.

She would befriend everyone, even little kids, with her words
Her imagination soared high, like a sky full of birds.
Her friends were large in number, she knew them, every one
They all confided in her, but she- she had none.

Tease, insult and laugh at her, but whatever you do
When you’re broken, down in the dumps, she is always there for you.
“She is short, dark and boyish”- these were words men would say
But she always had them falling for her and she always had her way.

Someone handsome, successful, and mature was who she had wanted
“You will have a short, and fair boy” Life laughed and taunted.
“Your smile is like a diamond, bright and twinkling” I’d say,
She’d blush, she would smile, and would end with a “Go away”.

Hardships she endures, spreading miles over miles
But when a friend would need attention, she is there.. all cheer and smiles
In spite of all the barriers that life has ever drawn
The Little Brown Girl realized, she had always been a swan.
