The younger lot are more keen to move past this crisis sooner rather than later, and expect life to return to normal within the next couple of months.

The Millennials’ underlying desire to become social again

  • About 46% millennials believe that the whole crisis has, in one way or the other, impacted their mental health.
  • While millennials and Gen Z also appear to be exploring more new activities and rediscovering old hobbies, they feel a larger impact on their sleep and mental health than older generations.
  • Younger generations are eager for their lives to resume to normal, perhaps because they feel safer than older generations in the advent of this crisis
  • This mentality is exemplified when it comes to their attitude about going out and travelling. Gen Z are more eager to return to the cinema, with 57% expecting to do so within 2 months, compared to only 21% of Gen X. The same argument goes for holiday plans.
  • Even when questioned about returning to work, we found that the millennial and Gen Z cohort mostly anticipates going back to office within 30 days post the lockdown.
  • A detailed report by The Mavericks capturing various changes in attitudes around the crisis will be coming out soon.
