The Medford Township Police, Fire and EMS were dispatched to the intersection of SH70 and Jones Road on July 10 at 5:14 p.m. for the report of a motor vehicle accident with a downed light standard.

Upon arrival the occupants of vehicles #1 and #2 were complaining of injuries and were treated by Medford EMS and Evesham Fire-Rescue. Five people were transported to the hospital for evaluation.

Police investigation revealed that Driver #1 was traveling west on SH70 in his 2005 Ford Taurus and Driver #2 was traveling east on SH 70. Driver #2 made a left turn in front of Driver #1 and the vehicles impacted in the intersection.

The force of the impact caused vehicle #2 to strike a light standard which fell onto Driver #3’s vehicle, a 2009 Kia. No one was injured in vehicle #3.

Traffic was directed around the collision scene but the highway remained open. Charges are pending the investigation of the Medford Township Police Traffic Safety Bureau.
