Shawnee students participate in the 61st Annual All-South Jersey Choral Festival
Molly Flynn was awarded the Richard M. Smith Memorial Scholarship for Music Education.
Shawnee High School would like to congratulate the fourteen Shawnee students who performed in the seventh to ninth grade and tenth to twelfth grade choruses at the 61st Annual All-South Jersey Choral Festival held at the Investors Bank Performing Arts Center in Washington Township High School.
The performers were Sadie Barrett, Daniel Chung, Thomas Eckel, Ava Estacio-Touhey, Julia Fisher, Emma Fitzpatrick, Molly Flynn, Adele Guth, Alyssa Levin, Bryan McNaughton, Owen Reilly, Maggie Summerville, Evan Taylor and Samantha Thomas.
The seventh to ninth grade chorus sang an arrangement of “Some Nights” for their finale, and solo performances were given to the section leader for each voice part. Three of the soloists were Shawnee High School freshmen Adele Guth, Alyssa Levin, and Samantha Thomas.
Additionally, each year the South Jersey Choral Director’s Association awards scholarships to two seniors as they pursue high education. This year, Shawnee senior Molly Flynn was awarded the Richard M. Smith Memorial Scholarship for Music Education. Students were selected through an arduous application and audition process.
Mr. Joubert, Choral Director at Shawnee High School, added, “Molly has worked very hard over her years here, and it is fitting that she be rewarded for her dedication to refining her craft. We are extremely proud of her, and all of her accomplishments!”
