August Newsletter: Getting Back Into the Groove
The Memoirist News
Memoirists,
Ahhh, summer is almost over. We’re getting to that time when we tell ourselves we need to get back into the writing groove again. Family vacations are coming to a close, kids are getting ready to go back to school, we’re getting tired of our own dang excuses, etc.
And you know what? Like I said previously, it’s okay to take a break! It’s only natural to have an ebb and flow when you’re a nutty creative type. When you start pressuring yourself is when you start falling out of love. You know?
Lord knows I’ve been in a writing funk, but I’m starting to feel inspired again and ready to hit the keyboard again with fervor.
So, to the rest of you — who are a bit like me — welcome back! As always, I’m looking forward to your stories!
August Writing Prompt
I just announced a new writing prompt for August: Grandparents.
Tell us a story about your Grandma or Grandpa — or grandparent adjacent loved one — something special from your childhood, adulthood, or whenever. Something you shared with them, golden memories and moments. Please tag your piece “Grandparents.”
A while back, I wrote about my grandfather. If you want inspiration, take a read:
