On My Birthday, I Almost Ended My Brother’s Life

My mother is decorating, and my father picks up the piñata. All set are the preparations so that I would have an excellent birthday party. Nothing would tarnish it.

As my parents prepped, I watched my little brother. He and I were on the sofa watching TV. My brother would then get bored and want to pick fights. First, he would lunge at me, attempting to hit me on the head. I would pull him off as I told him to stop and watch TV.

Since he’s stubborn, he would ignore me and keep at it.

His antics irritated me; I needed to end his mischief. So, as he came towards me, I pushed him as hard as possible. Unfortunately, I shoved him so hard that he fell head-first to the ground. Immediately I felt remorse. I should’ve controlled my strength and not let my brother fall to the tile floor below.

I heard a loud thud and knew my brother had cracked his skull. I hoped his problem wasn’t severe enough he didn’t have to visit the hospital.

How wrong I was.

Mom noticed what happened when she saw my brother fly from the couch. She soon started charging toward my brother, hoping he was okay. He wasn’t okay, as mom called the paramedics. I knew I…
