Twitter Verification

Verification is coming for all, and some people aren’t happy.

While we wait for the Metaverse to succeed or fail, Web3 and the NFT community call Twitter home.

Now that Elon Musk is in charge, changes are coming.

Verification will now become accessible to all with an $8 monthly subscription, which will also include:

  • Priority in replies, mentions, and searches (meant to fight spam)
  • Ability to post long video and audio
  • Half as many ads
  • Edit Tweets
  • Set your NFT as your Profile Picture

The purpose is meant to equalize the volume of the voices on Twitter. Unfortunately, the small verification badge indirectly came with a powerful social prestige. This wasn’t its original purpose.

Seeing the outrage over people not happy about the new verification system highlights this “problem.”

Look at your triggers; there, you’ll find some things that might need fixing.

Since these announcements, Twitter use has been at an all-time high. Regardless of how you feel, the changes are still coming.

The $8 price point will hopefully slow down bots, which have been a BIG problem regarding scams. Elon also stated that there will be ZERO tolerance for impersonation.

I choose to be optimistic and hope it’ll reduce the barrier of entry to newcomers and, conceivably, even move the needle toward letting us talk to each other as equals.

Who knows. Time will tell.

If you care enough, I’m sure you can afford $8 a month. If you don’t, guess what? You’re not missing out on anything. You can still use Twitter like usual.
