How to use Cisco Webex Teams with Microsoft Teams

Wish you knew how to use Microsoft Teams with Cisco Webex Teams? Don’t worry. You will know how to soon enough.

While some companies believe they need to choose between apps, many businesses would prefer the option to simply stick with both tools in the same environment.

You may enjoy certain features on Cisco Webex, like Webex Calling, but enjoy the interactions with Office 365 that Microsoft Teams offers.

Ultimately, switching users from Cisco to Microsoft Teams (and vice versa) creates dissatisfaction and productivity gaps in your business.

So, wouldn’t you rather avoid it?

How to use Microsoft Teams if you’re also using Cisco Webex Teams

Figuring out how to use Microsoft Teams with Cisco Webex Teams can be complicated.

To begin to combat this, Cisco introduced integration between Webex Teams and Office 365.

While this means you can access tools like PowerPoint and Word from your Cisco stack, there is no support available for Teams.

There’s also the option to run Webex meetings in Teams through a dedicated app. However, you’re limited to Webex Meetings only. The messaging element is not supported here.

You might be thinking, surely, there has to be a better way?

There is.

Mio eliminates the issues that happen when companies attempt to awkwardly stick Microsoft Teams and Cisco Webex Teams together.

How does Mio sync Microsoft Teams and Cisco Webex Teams?

Mio provides full synchronization between Microsoft Teams and Cisco Webex Teams. You can expect these features (and more) synced across platform:

  • Direct messaging
  • Channels and spaces
  • Image uploads
  • File sharing
  • Rich text formatting

Let’s set the scene.

If you’re a Webex user in a traditional office environment and you need to chat with a Microsoft Teams user, you’d need to log out of the app and log into your Microsoft app instead.

Time consuming, unproductive, poor user experience.

With Mio, you can stay inside your preferred tool, and direct message your coworkers across platform. Mio removes the need for third-party apps, complicated plugins, and bots to connect your Microsoft and Cisco users.

With rich text formatting, emojis and file upload/ sharing options, you can also make your messages as personalized and immersive as you like.

Make a mistake? Just edit your direct message from Webex, rather than having to switch to Teams. Want to say something on a Webex Team Space? Visit from your Microsoft Teams Channel.

Keep your teams in sync

Learning how to use Microsoft in tandem with Webex isn’t just about syncing the appropriate apps and permissions. You’ll also need to get your people onboard too.

Fortunately, with Mio, all employees need to do is a single, one-time authorization to sync their direct messages across both platforms. As an admin, you’ll be able to send a message or prompt that encourages users to do this. You can also access the new Auto Prompt feature to automatically ask users for authorization.

With People Sync, all of your users get to set their preferred chat platform so that messages from other platforms can be routed and accessed natively.

Synced users on Mio using Microsoft will be able to participate in direct messages with people using Cisco Webex Teams and vice versa. On the other hand, non-synced users will simply get a message asking for authorization. Check out the video people to see how seamless direct messaging between platforms can be.

Use Microsoft Teams and Cisco Webex Teams together seamlessly

Mio makes forming a true connection between users simple. There’s no need for any additional end-user licensing requirements, and employees don’t have to change their habits or learn how to use new tools.
