MKIG Starts 2020 with a Talk from Lord Wolfson

What a fabulous start to the year. Two excellent pitches and a thought-provoking speaker made for a very captivating evening at our highest attended event ever.

Due to an overwhelming response from members to attend, the event had to be moved to the NatWest Accelerator Hub in Central Milton Keynes. Thanks to Sharon Rai, the Hub’s Manager, for arranging this excellent venue and speaking so passionately about the start-up scene in Milton Keynes.

Hosting the evening, MKIG Founder Alexander Boswell welcomed guests and explained the principles behind MKIG. He then introduced Lord Wolfson, CEO of Next Plc who gave a fascinating talk on wealth creation. Nearing the end of his talk he was asked for his view on the future of the High Street. He replied that whilst he can’t predict what the High Street will look like in ten years, he does know that the people walking down it will be wearing clothes!

SponsorAI were the first start-up to pitch of the evening. Nick Roe, the company’s Founder delved into their disruptive platform and detailed how they plan to replace outdated sponsorship models with a new and innovative real-time rating system.

Next up was Scott Sharp from LEO who returned to MKIG for a second round of funding after a successful presentation in 2016. LEO is a successful global innovations website which provides a unique marriage service between large organisations and innovators. Scott described LEO’s journey to date and the remarkable traction achieved by LEO in three years. MKIG members were suitably impressed and he has already been receiving funding pledges.
