3 Smoothie Recipes To Try 30 Minutes Before Working Out

Smoothies are an awesome choice for a pre-workout snack. They’re easier to digest than solid food and when done right, they can give you just the right set of micro and macro nutrients to help you get the most from your workout. What you want right before a workout is a smoothie with protein, good carbs and healthy fats. The combination of these give you a mix of energy, keep you from feeling hungry and help rebuild your muscles.

When done wrong, they can be a source of excessive fat and sugar. So making sure that your smoothies aren’t just a fatty dessert that you ran through a blender is absolutely essential.

Here are our favorite recipes to power you up before you sweat. You should look at drinking your smoothie about 30–60 minutes before you hit the gym for maximum benefits.

  • 1 banana
  • 1 tablespoon of almond butter (or handful of almonds)
  • 2 scoops of chocolate protein powder (try our favorite: Kachava)
