Little acts of kindness go a long way

Some things we can incorporate into our daily life choices will add a droplet of goodness to the ocean of those who need a helping hand and all actions will only bring positive reactions back.

For the less fortunate

  • Avoid bargaining with the vendors while buying from local markets.
  • Give away some groceries and essential items to your house-help on a weekly/monthly basis. Fishing out an extra 500–1000 every month will feel nothing but will change the entire month’s ration for them.
  • Someone you know is working hard to make ends meet and provides a service you need — give them a shot whenever possible.
  • Help their kids with stationery

For the environment

  • Bring reusable bags with you when shopping at malls or supermarkets
  • Avoid using disposable items at parties
  • Start gifting plants and small gardening items like seed packets
  • Pick sustainable options like metal straws and degradable toothbrushes.

For yourself — the often-ignored

  • Schedule 10–30mins with your thoughts
  • Start your day with a plan and a positive mind
  • End the day with gratefulness and time off the screen
  • Exercise 4–5 times a week. Gifting yourself physical and mental wellbeing is priceless.

For those around you

  • Make complimenting a habit — often it makes someone’s day and week
  • Be responsive when someone reaches you asking for a listening ear
  • Make it a routine to call someone you love every day. More often than ever, both need to hear a familiar voice.
