The Bliss in Your Backyard

I was once a city guy who thought Los Angeles was everything. The excitement, the lights, even the graffiti was life. The longer you’re there, the more you start to believe the stress and traffic and smog are life too.

Then I looked up and saw the San Gabriel Mountains. “Remember me?” they called out like an old friend, a connection to my past, a connection to myself. From my home to a mountain peak in minutes. From madness to serenity just in time.

And it was all sitting right there in my backyard the whole time. What a magnificent discovery.
