5 Reasons for Running a Free Book Promotion

And it isn’t for the vanity

“You are chasing vanity stats.”

That was a message I had in my DMs on Saturday just after my latest book had over 1,000 downloads and I shared about it on Instagram.

This particular individual went on to tell me that I’m not a legitimate author because I’m writing a bunch of short books and giving them away for free.

After following his profile link to his one book that has a sales rank in the 100,000s I decided that I didn’t need to respond to this individual.

After all, why respond to a fool when he doesn’t see the folly in his own ways?

A Refresher About Free Promotions

Yet, after thinking about it more, I thought it might be time for a little refresher on the power of free book promotions and why I think most author’s should do them.

After all, if one person thinks it’s silly, others might too. And, I think that it is an important topic for a writer to understand when they don’t have a huge following.
