How to get started building a following and an email list
Every author needs a platform.
Yet the minimalist author, doesn’t need any extensive one. Looking back at my own experience, I wish I would have started more simply when it came to platform building.
Today, I want to share with you exactly what I would do if I was starting over and what I am doing now as I am moving into my minimalist author reality.
How to Start Your Minimalist Author Platform
I would start working on my author platform in a bare-bones way. Instead of getting on every platform and spreading myself too thin, I would have done this exact thing:
One Social Media Channel → One writing platform → One email platform
How this looks right now, is that I am focusing on 𝕏 as my social media platform, growing on Medium as my writing platform, and sending everyone to my Substack page for email.
Action Steps:
- Pick your social media platform: Facebook, Instagram, 𝕏, LinkedIn.
- Pick your writing platform: Medium, personal blog, Gumroad, etc.
- Pick your email service: Substack, Mailerlite, ConvertKit, Beehiv, etc.
