Focus, Trust, Recreate, and Relax

If ever there was a group of people to take advice from on how to be focused, it would be the United States Olympic Committee’s mental health team. So here’s what they suggest:

  • Recreate your best results by hacking the process. What did you do/eat/think/listen to when you had success? Do that all again.

The Best of What We Are Reading

Most books contain cover blurbs which desperately say, “You’ll love this book, please buy it!”

“Political language is designed to make lies sound truthful and murder respectable, and to give an appearance of solidity to pure wind.”

Check out Why I Write to see how broad and utilitarian Orwell’s definition of politics is. He saw “politics” as the system of cooperation we’re all condemned to either ignore, face, or improve. While it’s not easy to change, politics is still a culturally and societally built open-source operating system. We can participate as much or as little as we like. Both extremes carry consequences.
