Let’s send a Thank You coffee to our Cops for their service

Eva, our chat bot is helping citizens- “give”

Shock. Sadness. Outrage. Those were just some of the emotions we, at Eva, felt as the tragic news of gun violence and deaths unfolded across the United States last month. Griped by feelings of helplessness, we asked “what can one person do? 😞 ” Then, “what can Eva do?”

We are an early stage start up, on a mission to deliver happiness 😊 every day. Our chat bot, Eva helps people connect with friends, business colleagues, work teams and prospects by sending small gifts in a seamless fashion.

Days after Dallas police officers were ambushed and killed, our team was meeting in our favourite San Francisco Philz Coffee Shop. Two police officers walked in, and ordered coffee. One of Eva’s Happiness Agents acted totally on impulse. She met the police officers at the cash register, paid for their coffee and expressed our thanks for their service.

Maggie our happiness agent who came up with the noble thought

A small gesture, to be sure. But the smiles, well, you can see them in the pictures. We moved from helplessness back to Eva’s mission: Happiness Every Day.

We liked these smiles so much that we started doing this small activity every day. And then other people in the coffee shop noticed us and offered to pay for some of these coffees as well. We couldn’t say no but taking cash was a big hassle. So we came up with this idea- “Why not let Eva help others who wish to gift Coffee to cops to show their support?”

#CoffeeForCops campaign was born!

Within a couple of days we started collecting many smiles. Philz baristas and some police officers have also started acknowledging the initiative and are offering to buy coffees for our happiness agents 🎅 (which is such a sweet gesture💜 and we are thankful to these awesome baristas and officers!). Here are some of the stories our happiness agents wanted to share with everyone:

Story 1- Officers Liz and TJ

Officers Liz and TJ
On Friday afternoon two officers on patrol looked at us in disbelief when they learned we paid for their drinks. Officer Liz hugged our Happiness Agent. “That is so sweet,” she said. “Thank you.”

Story 2- Officer Joseph

Officer Joseph
“You guys made my day,” one young police officer told us. “Thank you so much. It is not often someone does something nice.”

Story 3- Officers Nick and Yuka

Officers- Nick and Yuka
Officers Nick and Yuka were just starting their shift when we met them. They were not sure what to make of us in the beginning 😀 But then they flashed us a big smile and put the money intended for the coffee in the barista’s tip jar. The barista smiled, too.

Why this Medium Article?

At Eva our mission is to make people happy. Every Day. And the way we do this is by making it super simple for people to send small gifts. One aspect of our business is to help companies and individuals build better professional relationships and other (more important) aspect is to help citizens become “givers” and build a better society. We all want to give, but giving is so tough and experience is so forgettable that we just move on with our busy lives. Eva wants to change that-

#CoffeeForCops has become an initiative which we want to pursue to help people give back to society in a super simple, powerful and visual way!

We invite you to join Eva On A Mission, and express your thanks to the people who risk their lives every day. And with every ☕️ gift we will take a photo of the cop and mention it along with your Twitter id to share the smiles with you.

Support Eva’s mission by chatting with Eva here. Tap on “Join Eva On A Mission #CoffeeForCops” button to gift the coffee.

P.S. We only charge $5 for coffee (no additional charges to the gifter). Eva matches $5 for every gift to manage logistics.

We have started seeing lot of support from our community already. As soon as some of our friends and customers heard about this initiative, they jumped on and started gifting these coffees.
