Dr. Peipei Wishnow Ph.D., founder of bebetternow.com is passionate about protecting brain health and memory as we age. Her moving story shows the difficulties of caring for a loved one with dementia and the impact on her personal life which lead to an exciting discovery.
The Slow Decline of Dementia
Dr. Wishnow’s mother turns 93 this year but no longer recognizes her daughter. Her decline into dementia started aged only 75 when she began accusing her husband of having affairs. As a devoted family man, a retired medical doctor and a Qi Gong master, the accusations were absurd and enormously stressful.
Although the family understood they didn’t know what to do. They watched as their beloved mother and wife deteriorated, year after year.
The Frighten Reality of an Uncertain Future
Today, when Dr. Wishnow visits China, she sees only brief glimpses of the mother she once knew. After prompting, her mother remembers her daughter and her love is plain to see. But it doesn’t last long; she forgets so quickly.
It’s heartbreaking they’re no longer able to share the stories, laughter and tender moments they used to enjoy. Dr. Wishnow fears for her mother but for herself, too. One time at work she forgot her passcode to her office! She was beyond scared! This inspired her to continue researching how to protect brain health and cognitive functions.
How to Reduce Brain Inflammation
As an MIT and Caltech trained biologist, with years of lab experience and a background in formulating natural products to address age-related health issues by combining the best of Western scientific methodology and the wisdom of traditional Eastern Medicine, Dr. Wishnow began searching for alternative answers.
Her research led her to believe the latest research results that chronic brain inflammation is at the heart of aging-related cognitive decline. To protect our brain, we must do our best to reduce brain inflammation.
A healthy diet, exercise, and quality sleep are very important measures to reduce inflammation in the cardiovascular system and protect our heart. These are good for the brain as well.
But what else can we do to reduce chronic brain inflammation?
An Exciting Discovery
A cutting-edge report published by Gary Small, MD, the Director of UCLA Longevity Center and his team, revealed a special highly bio-available form of curcumin called Theracurmin Curcumin.
This special form of curcumin significantly improves memory and mood.
A study group had 18 months of treatment after which PET scans showed a healthier brain structure in two regions related to memory processing, decision making, and mood responses.
Curcumin is the active compound extracted from the Turmeric root. It is often used in curry giving it a bright yellow color. It has strong anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidative properties.
Supplements sold in health stores use regular curcumin which the body finds difficult to absorb. Due to the low bio-availability of these pills, they pass through, coming out as waste. The Theracurmin curcumin used in the UCLA study is different. Formulated with nanotechnology into a sub-micron size 100 times smaller than regular curcumin, it’s easier to absorb into the bloodstream. Dr. Small and his team achieved groundbreaking results using this special form of curcumin.
We all want to protect our brain and memory but time isn’t on our side. Dr Wishnow’s mental clarity has improved since using these products and they’re available for you to try, too.
