Today you woke up with the desire to finally get going on the projects you’ve been putting off over the last few years. You were motivated, inspired, and ready to take the first step.

You showed up and got prepared for the fruitful work.

Suddenly you find out that the things seem a little bit more complicated, confusing, and unfeasible.

You start realizing that it’s going to be neither easy nor fast to write a book; to launch a Kickstarter campaign; to start selling on Amazon; to master a foreign language; to start a business…. or to make happen whatever you have in mind.

Eventually, you arrive at the point when you don’t feel like “conquering the world” today. However, you are sure that you’ll be ready to nail it in a while. Some day you’ll get the work done. Just not today…

Sounds familiar?

Committing to big goals is hard.

And it’s no wonder why.

Putting the hard work off is the common facet of human’s nature.

We all are desperately bad at committing to the activities that require the major effort, time, and talent.

When the finish line is not visible and the scope of the project is difficult to estimate, the desire to take action gradually vanishes. Meanwhile, the severe procrastination comes into play.

Embrace the truth. You can achieve anything you want. The only obstacles on your way to success are your laziness, reluctance, and the lack of discipline. And last but not least is your propensity to procrastinate.

I’m sure you have a big goal. Or two. Or even more.

However, just like millions of people out there, you just put the things off. You like to procrastinate the huge commitments. Because you know that they are going to require tremendous investments of your time and effort.

Therefore, you choose the easiest way. You postpone the beginning till “someday” trying to convince yourself that there will be a better, more favorable moment to start.

However, the point is that later often means never.

If you postpone the realization of your dreams today, you are not likely to get back to them ever again.

Moreover, when you postpone the start, you deliberately postpone the finish. You make your journey towards the desired destination last longer.

No doubt, you might still arrive at it one day. However, it’s going to happen much later.

After all, the secret to achieving your goals and enjoying the results of your fruitful work faster is ridiculously simple: start now.

No one requires you to master the difficult skills and become a champion over night. Take your time to gather the pace. Take your time to approach the desired destination with the baby steps.

It’s fine to be slow. Because slow is better than stagnant.

After all, the only thing you need to care about is a consistent headway.

Take a second to look back and think how much time you’ve already wasted over the last few years.

Now think how much more you could have achieved by now if you hadn’t been such a procrastinator.

Stop cheating yourself. There won’t be a better moment to start. The best time is now.

I want to leave you with the powerful quote by Karen Lamb:

A year from now you may wish you had started today

Start now.
