The Positopian Manifesto

There I was, riddled with an addiction that I had been battling for years, asking myself that age-old question, “Do I do it, or do I not do it?

I searched my nightstand for something that I could use to refocus my attention, to take my mind off my misguided desire, but didn’t find anything that raised my spirits or inspired me to be more than my humanity.

What is Positopian?

In that moment, I decided there needed to be a different outlook on life, a better way to live, something that gave hope in the times when needed the most.

Positopian is a paradigm, an ideal, a lifestyle. It is a series of mental frameworks somewhere in between a utopian and dystopian outlook filled with hope, optimism and positivity.

Positopian is a Future We Strive Toward

Our future is entirely malleable because it hasn’t even been created yet. Our past doesn’t get to dictate our future. A Positopian world is all about having a growth mindset and not a fixed one. It’s replacing sadness with opportunity. It’s seeing the magic in everything around us.

Life should be something you live, not just survive. It’s not something that happens. It’s a box of mysteries and gifts.

Life is something you’re given. Living is something you choose.

So why not choose a good life? a happy one? a joyful one?

Living is accepting that life is messy, yes, but we can embrace our full selves, our faults and our strengths, and choose to do good, to see good, to hear good, and to be good.

The Positopian mission is simple:

Constantly build hope into our lives and create a better world with futures we can aspire to.

All we have to do is see examples, continue to learn, grow, and dream. This is the first step toward creating a Postiopian future. We all have cards that we’re dealt, but we can add to the hand or change it out entirely.

Choose to Live

Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom. -Victor E. Frankl

One of our greatest abilities as human beings is our ability to choose how we respond things that happen in our lives. We are much more than our impulses, our thoughts, and cognitive biases. We are the choices we make.

The measure of your life will be the measure of your courage. -Matt Kelly

Living is not just surviving, it’s about approaching each day fully alive, with passion, lit with a fire that brightens the world through Positopian words, song, deeds, actions, and expression in any form.

So shines a good deed in a weary world. -Willy Wonka

Living means choosing to look for the beauty in the world around you. It’s being aware that you can actually change your state, disrupt your habits, and design the life you’ve always wanted to live.

Do you fill people around you? or do you drain them?

Like a battery source, do you charge up others, do you give them what they need? Or are you a sinking ship, that takes, takes, & takes. Life is about choosing to be more positive through the darkness and rolling with the punches in all situations. Life is about giving. Life is about living.

Share Hopeful Stories

I wish this person, or any person, happiness and well-being :)

Our lives will be what our thoughts make it. Everyone is a storyteller, a filmmaker, a director for the movie called, “The Story of My Life.”

If you look at today’s narratives and stories, everything is a remix. It’s a combination of influences from previous stories which were combinations of influences of stories before them. We stand now on the shoulder’s of many people before us, all with their own story. Let’s stand on the shoulders of giants so we can lift others up to see the beautiful views before us.

To love is to will the good of another.

Therefore, the best way to create a bright beautiful tomorrow is to share stories of optimism, goodness, charity, fortitude, courage, virtue and hope.

Stories teach us how to live better lives. They are guides, metaphors, simulations, and examples of potential scenarios that could happen.

Stories have power to change the world.

We all need a little help. If someone loses their way, it doesn’t mean they’re lost forever. Sharing our experiences, our emotions, our thoughts, our feelings, and simply just listening can sometimes be the most potent magic of all. Using our imagination and creativity is just the first step.

Be kind for everyone you know is fighting a hard battle.

An old Cherokee taught his grandson about life, “A fight is going on inside me,” he said to the boy.

“It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves. One is evil — he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.” He continued, “The other is good — he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith. The same fight is going on inside you — and inside every other person, too.

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, “Which wolf will win?

The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.

Anyone Can Change the World

We have an innate curiosity built into us. We have amazing brains that can store giant amounts of information. Now, more than ever, we have the ability to draw on the past to create an amazing world around us today.

If I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants. -Isaac Newton

The best investment is in yourself, your mind, your health, your understanding of the world. Your paradigm literally shapes the world around you. You can learn the science of success and the steps to get there. The art lies in enjoying yourself and being fulfilled along the way.

Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people. -Anonymous

If you learn about the world, you don’t have to be afraid of it. Even if you fall, remember to fall forward and try again tomorrow. Have fun with it. You can be a hero if you just keep moving forward.

You can get everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want. -Zig Ziglar

Our jobs should be creating blank canvases for others to fill, continually improving our inner self and others so we can all become the best versions of ourselves. Often in trying to find our happiness, our obstacles become our life. Remember to enjoy the journey with others. Happiness is the way.

One person can make a difference, and everyone should try. -John F. Kennedy

The Future is Malleable

We all move at the same rate of speed: 3600 seconds per hour.

We all have 24 hours in a day, no more, no less. Our destinies are shaped by what we do with those 24 hours. Even our week only has 168 hours, and we basically sleep for 1/3 of it (56 hours), and work for 1/3 of it (56 hours), so in a week, what will we do with our last 56 hours? Our fate is decided from what we spend our free time on between 8pm to 10pm. These are the golden hours for shaping our future.

Keep your face to the sun and you will never see the shadows. -Helen Keller

Every moment is an opportunity. It’s up to you in how you want to use it. We live in a world that can be rich in abundance with the 4 T’s: Time, Talent, Treasure, and Thanks. There’s so much we can use if we stay resourceful and use our time effectively and wisely.

The accumulation of knowledge is not as important as the application of knowledge. -Tai Lopez

Our world will be defined by the repeated actions we do as a society. Skills and habits are formed through repetition not simply by a singular act. Let’s be examples for each other. Let’s build the world we want to live in and be the change we want to see. We are constantly growing and evolving based on what’s inside us and around us. The future is in front of us.

Let’s make it good.
A man is what he thinks about all day long. -Ralph Waldo Emerson
