This issue needs to be solved by the digital generation, now.

We are the new workforce: the remote workers, the digital nomads, the freelancers, and the entrepreneurs of the world.

We love our independence, we strive to live on our own terms, we are creative, introspective, and mindful.

We are on a mission to push our limits, to get out of our comfort zones, and to provoke human interaction.

We are willing to accept uncertainty to further our growth.

We are drawn to coffee shops and innovative co-working spaces because we’re inspired and energized being around other people (and coffee, of course).

We reject the status quo. We embrace change.

We’ve forgotten why coffeehouses were created — for people from diverse backgrounds to interact and share ideas.

Together we must set the stage for a major transition in the way we connect with our fellow workers.

That’s why we’re going to our favorite coffee shops to connect and finally find out what everyone is working on. Join us!

This is the first step of the #CoffeeHouseConnect movement, and it starts this Monday, May 30:

At the end of the week, we will have a snapshot of what’s happening in coffee shops all around the world:

What are people working on in Nigeria compared to Japan or Switzerland?

Do entrepreneurs in Macedonia go to coffee shops for the same reasons as those in NY or Portland?

What about Korea, India, Peru, etc?

We believe the most powerful insights will come from individual experiences and interactions. That’s why we need you to share your story.

We will be curating the creative output (videos, articles, drawings, etc.) from the doers who will have the courage to challenge the status quo and talk to their neighbors as we did in the experiment that started all this.

The paradox of connected devices

Computers, phones, and tablets allow us to work outside of conventional offices, but these tools are paradoxically the very barriers that shield us from human connection.

Engaging someone who is using an electronic device will feel awkward until we create new social norms for our favorite workspaces.

It’s time for a change.
