News that matters

➜ A new study conducted by researchers at the University of Edinburgh has found that life expectancy is shortened by 2 months for every extra kilogram of weight carried. According to the WHO, 39% of adults and over 340 million children (aged 5–19) were overweight or obese in 2016.

➜ The American Heart Association has found that Tai Chi may serve as an alternative to typical cardiac rehab exercises for those at high-risk for heart disease. Over 60% of patients who suffer from heart attacks decline appropriate physical therapy — mainly because of cost and dislike of usual cardio programs. Tai Chi is a gentle exercise routine that anyone can do at home for free.
