Adopting or giving birth to your own Child?
I know this might be a little bit controversial, but I am really itching to tell someone.
I’ve always been told that,
Having your own child is better than adopting.
Why is it better? I never understood why “making” your own child is better.
I know God made humans superior to all the other animals on earth, but we’re still from God, right?
Maybe it is also because I am a dog advocate that I am a believer in adoption. I strongly support pet adoption rather than pet buying.
Plenty of people try to make money by making pets. We all know there is an overpopulation of dogs in the US.
Why do other people still try and breed new dogs?
Breeding dogs are very profitable.
One puppy, let’s say a full breed, can cost a minimum of $250 all the way to $5000. It appeals to many Americans to have a dog that is a full breed. Why? Well, for instance, it is easier to predict any genetic information such as diseases to look out for or because they want to have a certain pedigree. People aren’t really thinking of all the other abandoned pets out there left to be euthanized. I guess that’s how selfish we are. We always want things of our own. We always want new things or things that have not been used by anyone else.
But you know the beauty of having a pet that has been abandoned or adopting a child who has been abandoned?
You get to help save a life.
You have the opportunity to make his or her life better compared to how it used to be. You get to love someone who longs to be loved, to feel safe. Adoption allows you to help our society and stop depression or all the other evil things out there.
In one small way, you change the world.
Going back, why is it better to have your own child? I know people want to have a child that looks like them and know all of their familial history and potential for diseases.
Although if we go there, we would have to talk about race.
In my opinion, our race only tells us where we were born and what our parents used to look like.
Our physical Traits (phenotype) is determined by our genotype which is transcribed according to the sequence of our DNA.
Light skin, dark skin, black hair, blonde hair… It all is the same.
Parenting is much bigger than genetics.
We are all human. And there are humans out there who need a family.
