Looking for a simple way to dress up a small window in your home? The answer is purchasing tea towels rather than traditional panels. Tea towels are a relatively inexpensive way to bring life to a shorter window and give you the option to swap out your sweet curtains seasonally (or whenever the mood strikes you).

Before you go shopping, watch this “how-to” from Southern Living below on where exactly you should place your cafe curtain rod if you choose to use a traditional approach.

I like to use the DIGNITET curtain wire sets from IKEA. At a cool $14.99, the DIGNITET hardware is ready to mount and super easy to install for cafe curtains and full floor-to-ceiling varieties alike.

Most of the time tea towels require no hemming, which is one of the reasons I love using them, however, if you’re fabric runs a little long or wide, try this no-sew hem tutorial from the super sweet Erin at François et Moi.
