Kauai is AWESOME!

Fist totally non-coffee related I must say that Kauai is an awesome place. My Wife and I went there for our honeymoon and had an amazing time. There is so much to explore for such a small island, and the scenery was beautiful. The image used on this post is one that it took on our trip on my Samsung Galaxy S7.

OK back to the coffee

So I discovered Kauai Coffee by accident actually and it wasn’t even while I was in Kauai. I’m not a coffee snob or aficionado by any means but I do like a good cup of high-quality coffee. I normally drink some type of Kona or Kona blend coffee and it suits my needs perfectly, it is not bitter and has some natural sweetness to it. I was not at my normal grocery store while running an errand and I remembered I needed to buy some coffee. They did not carry any Kona coffees so after looking for a good 5 minutes I noticed Kauai Coffee. I bought the Kauai Coffee Koloa Estate variety and wondered how it would taste.

The next morning

I woke up excited to try this new coffee (ok as excited as I can be for having to wake up for work) and brewed a cup to take with me. I already thought almost any Kona blend was about 1000% better than your standard Folgers coffee but MAN this Kauai coffee tasted even better. It had a very smooth taste with almost no bitterness and with a little sweetness to it. The Kauai Coffee says “The smooth and pleasing flavor of this coffee is created for you by the delicate balance of nature found on the island of Kauai. Some call the island paradise. We simply call it home. From the Koloa Estate on Hawaii’s Kauai Island, this single-origin coffee is grown in rich volcanic soil, touched by abundant mountain rain, warmed by the Pacific sun and cooled by the gentle Hawaiian trade winds.” Whatever it is that creates this amazing coffee it has encouraged me to look into other coffees provided by this company.

Estate Reserve Coffee

After drinking this coffee for a few months I decided to look into other coffees that they produce, I have ordered the Kauai Coffee ER Peaberry medium roast. They describe it as “Sweet fragrance with hints of lemon. The acidity enveloped in sweetness carries through into the long finish. A rousing cup of coffee — sweet, bright flavors that tease of citrus. Here is a coffee brimming with tropical sunshine.” I can’t wait to try and will write a comparison review with the Koloa Estate.
