Surprisingly Not 100% False Information. Sort of.

My LinkedIn timeline just flashed a headline about Origin Quantum unveiling a 72-qubit quantum computer and, as usual, it’s being shared without verification. But I have an Origin Quantum account, so let’s take a closer look.

Qubit Count

The last time an announcement was made about Origin Quantum, I logged in and the qubit count was false. I don’t remember what the claim was in the announcement, but the number in the portal was much lower. I’m trying to find the thread, but the link was in some LinkedIn conversation that I can’t find anymore. Surprisingly, you can see in the screenshot that the portal actually matches the announcement for a change. Again, this is usually not the case with announcements out of China.

However, put an asterisk on this, because we’re going to circle back to this number later.
