Do Not Give Your Clients Your Phone Number
Get yourself a business phone before clients step into your private life
Years ago, I was collaborating with a local markets organizer, and the first thing he told me was to get a phone and a sim card to use just for work.
He would have paid me the expenses. Having a phone dedicated to the job kept me from giving away my personal phone numbers and dealing with exhibitors once the market was over.
That’s something one of my dearest friends didn’t think about when she started a small shop with local products and began to give customers her phone number.
“Why have a phone in the shop? It’s just another bill to pay!” She told me.
The story began with her taking notes of people’s requests and calling them when the goods arrived.
She then started sending promotional messages to those who opt-in to receive news from the shop. Before she realized her mistake, the situation was already out of control.
Customers started calling her after the shop closure, texting orders, and leaving voice messages on Sunday mornings.
After a few months from the opening, the shop was successful, but she was freaking out.
