Submit to The Monolith Humor & Satire

The long and short of it is that this publication was made to fill a gap of BIPOC ran publications. This will be a space for humor writers that are from the BIPOC community to grow and thrive in.

Who can submit?

BIPOC humor and satire writers.

I, humbly, request that any and all white writers take a step back. There is a multitude of publications on and off of Medium that accepts everyone. I just wanted to create a little corner just for the underrepresented side of comedy writing.

What can be submitted?

Short humor pieces that are around 300 to 1000 words. Under this umbrella can be monologs, lists, short scenes, anything but news pieces. I’m mostly looking for something that is funny and heightens to something unexpected.

I’m also accepting funny art!

Remember that the title and first paragraph are the biggest draw to the piece. So a title that has both the topic and POV of the piece is key. And the first paragraph is clear and concise.

Please include a cover photo that is public. These sites are a great source: Unsplash — Pexels — Pixabay — Creative Commons. Unless your piece is covered under fair use (parody).

Be sure to put the piece behind a paywall. It’s so you could get some money and possibly get curated to reach more readers.

It doesn’t have to be BIPOC centric. I want your strange and wonderful and unique humor in this publication.

How can your piece be submitted?

After you’ve tightened up your piece as much as possible, shoot an email to me at nguyen.mary5@gmail.com. Please include the title of the piece and a link to your unpublished and private piece.

Turnaround time?

I will be as prompt as possible. I am but one person. But within 1–2 weeks. Pieces will be up during the week.

I’ll try to give notes and help shape it up for publication. But sometimes the piece just doesn’t strike me.
