Behind the Scenes of the JMA Float
Recently, the annual Carlsbad Light Parade took place with JMA as one of it’s competitors. This year’s theme was “Jingle Bell Rock”, as such, Carter Lacey, one of the educators here at JMA, had dressed as Jack Black and pretended to sing to a recording. Alongside Carter was a recording of our very own Nicholas Harvey rocking out on the piano. While Nick hadn't performed live, the prerecorded audio was enough to get people into the holiday mood.
The preparations of the float were quickly succeeded due to the large workforce of 20 or so people. The total time it took to setup the float for the parade was around 12 hours. Though the float would have been more phenomenal if planning and construction had began earlier - it still turned out really well.
Nicole Harvey, one of our newer educators here at JMA, was one of the leaders of the project. Nicole has worked on other light parade projects in the past but she “feels like this was her first time.” Although we had not placed in the parade Nicole feels like we had accomplished a lot and brought joy to many people.
